Today was a truly special day for The Khalsa Academy Wolverhampton as we proudly opened our dedicated Peace Garden — a tranquil and beautifully designed space created for solace, reflection, and remembrance for everyone within our school and our wider community.

The opening ceremony was a moving and memorable occasion, bringing together students, staff, families, and esteemed guests to mark this meaningful moment. We were honoured by the presence of Warinder Juss MP and Sureena Brackenridge MP, whose continued support of our local community means so much to us. We also welcomed Pooja Kanda OBE and Nikita Kanda, representing the family of Ronan Kanda, whose memory remains ever-present in our hearts.

It was our privilege, too, to be joined by Mark and Beverly Brindley, parents of James Brindley and founders of The James Brindley Foundation. Their tireless work to support young people and promote positive change is an inspiration to all of us at the Academy.

We were deeply touched to have with us the parents of our beloved late music teacher, Mr. Manraj Lal, whose passion for music and dedication to his students left a lasting legacy in our school.

Our Peace Garden stands as a beacon of remembrance for Ronan Kanda, Mr. Manraj Lal, our cherished Punjabi teacher Mrs. Paramjeet Grewal, and for all families within our community who have experienced loss. Surrounded by nature, it is a place where students, staff, and visitors alike can find a moment of calm, honour loved ones, and reflect on the importance of kindness, togetherness, and compassion.

Today’s gathering was a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of our community. Seeing everyone come together — sharing stories, memories, and quiet moments of reflection — showed how much we can achieve when we stand side by side.

We are profoundly grateful to all who joined us to dedicate this meaningful space and to everyone who helped bring this vision to life. The Peace Garden will serve as a lasting sanctuary for generations to come — a place where we remember, find peace, and draw hope from one another.
